Accessibility Statement

Last updated: April 2026

Amianto.info is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

1. Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

Amianto.info aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The platform is partially conformant: some content does not yet fully meet the standard.

2. Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features across the platform:

  • Semantic HTML with proper landmark regions (header, main, nav, footer) for assistive technology navigation.
  • Keyboard navigation support throughout the platform — all interactive elements are reachable via Tab, Enter, and Space.
  • Visible focus indicators on links, buttons, and form fields.
  • Sufficient colour contrast meeting WCAG AA standards for text and interactive elements.
  • Responsive design that works on screens from 320px width upward, including mobile devices.
  • Text resizing supported up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Alt text for informative images; decorative images are marked accordingly.
  • Form fields with associated labels and clear error messages.
  • Multilingual support (English, Spanish, French) with proper language declarations.
  • Skip-to-content link available on every page.

3. Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some areas of the platform may not be fully accessible. We are aware of and actively working to resolve the following limitations:

  • Some interactive map components (e.g., the World Map of Asbestos) may not be fully navigable by keyboard or screen readers; we provide a textual list of countries as an alternative.
  • Some legacy editorial content may include images without sufficient alt text. We are in the process of auditing and updating these.
  • PDF documents linked from the platform may not always meet accessibility standards. We are working to provide accessible alternatives.

4. Compatibility

Amianto.info is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • NVDA and JAWS on Windows
  • VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
  • TalkBack on Android
  • Modern keyboard-only navigation
  • Browser zoom up to 200%

The platform is tested on recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

5. Feedback and Contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Amianto.info. If you encounter accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please let us know. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days.

6. Enforcement Procedure

In the European Union, the Web Accessibility Directive (Directive 2016/2102) and equivalent national legislation provide a framework for accessibility complaints. If you are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility concern, you may contact the relevant national accessibility enforcement body in your country.

7. Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review the platform, train our team on accessibility best practices, and incorporate accessibility checks into our development workflow. This statement will be updated as our platform evolves and as we resolve known issues.
